Description & Location of the Sanctuary

Our land is located in the beautiful valley of Maquine , twenty nine degrees South of the Equator, surrounded by “Mata Atlantica Rainforest”, two hours north of Porto Alegre , the capital city of the region of Rio Grande do Sul.

Entering this valley is like stepping back in time. Ox drawn carts, horse drawn buggies and small, charming farms create an old world ambiance. Aromatic white ginger and lush foliage line the road and river crossings leading to our home.

At roads end, there is one more bridge to cross. 

Following a winding path up the hill the forest opens into tropical flower gardens, herbal mandalas and banana plantations.

The mountain range behind our land is shaped like a half-moon and has many large waterfalls with crystal clear water,  a great place to refresh and bath.

A little trail leads to the two story rustic main-house with kitchen and comfortable sleeping accommodations.

Jean-Pierre recently build an art-barn and out-door studio with traditional Brazilian adobe bread oven.

A small hexagonal Meditation House is tucked away in the garden.

Rafinhia’s House (former owner of the land) can be found along another small trail lines with coco palms. From there we can view the entire valley and surrounding mountains.

Another structure intended as a healing environment is currently under construction.
